  • Coaching is a process where we work together to move forward from where you are now, to where you want to be. It is (typically) a series of conversations where momentum is built to identify goals and values, create action plans, and achieve clarity. Coaching does not take place of consulting (provides advice) or counseling (healing from past).

  • A coaching session achieves three things: agreement, awareness, and action. We clearly identify a topic and goal for the coaching session. Throughout the entirety of the session, we work on gaining awareness about your topic(s) - while keeping in mind your greater values and goals, which leads to action.

  • Coaching sessions range from 30-60 minutes. We offer sessions that are 30, 45, or 60 minutes in length. You can decide which you prefer for each session we schedule. All coaching sessions can be completed via phone call, video call, or in person - you also get to pick your preference.

  • As the client, you are in charge of the topic and direction for the conversation. If you are stuck, we can talk about your "big picture" values and goals. If you would like suggestions on what to talk about, please feel free to ask. The topic can be changed at any time during the conversation.

  • We are open to discussing any and all speaking events. Katie has speaking experience with events that have had more than 200 people present, has made three podcast appearances, and more. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss speaking opportunities.

  • We offer a variety of wedding officiating services: ceremony only, rehearsal and ceremony, or pre-marital coaching with rehearsal and ceremony. Depending on what you are looking for, we can customize and accommodate your needs.

  • Yes! Katie became ordained with Universal Life Church on January 1st, 2019, and confirmed with local courthouses and a lawyer that this is acceptable for legal wedding services (in all states). In addition, Katie was recognized by a local church (Frederick, MD) to perform wedding ceremonies in Maryland. With two layers of legal protection to perform wedding ceremonies, we want to offer a disclaimer: we do not associate material, services, or status with either of these churches - all content comes from our own research and resources.

“I cannot speak highly enough about Katie Shugars! She and I grew up together so I can speak on her professional side as well as her personal side. She has always been so kind to everyone around her, and she is very passionate about her faith. So it was an easy decision when my husband and I were looking for an officiant for our wedding. Katie was incredibly professional, timely and helpful from start to finish. Being a bride, things can get very overwhelming during the planning process and she took away all of that stress by writing up a ceremony draft in December (my wedding was in June) which gave us plenty of time to make any edits or changes that were needed. Her first draft was so beautifully written that no changes were needed! She also gave my husband and I a couples workbook to work through on our own that she put together herself. It was really fun for my husband and I to do that together leading up to our wedding! The day of our wedding, Katie was absolutely amazing. She is such a great speaker and didn't make the ceremony too long or too short, it was perfect! She also helped me stay calm throughout the whole process. With all of that being said, I HIGHLY recommend Katie as your wedding officiant! You will be in great hands!”

“I've had several sessions of coaching with Katie and love how present she is in our conversations and how deeply she listens to not just my words, but my expressions and emotions. It's a rare thing these days to have someone set themselves aside all for the purpose of hearing and seeing me. I'm grateful for her wisdom in helping me connect with my dreams!”

“I have had the opportunity to have a couple of coaching sessions with Katie, and if I had to pick a word to describe how I felt when I left, I would say serenity. The first time I met with Katie, I was nervous even though I have known her for years. I was nervous to talk about things that were really personal. She makes the experience so calming. I was able to ‘spread out my thoughts’ and we worked through them. I literally laid on the floor at the end of our session with a sense of serenity, knowing that all I needed was her help to organize those thoughts to find the answer I needed. Katie does not judge, instead she shows compassion. Mostly she LISTENS and asks questions to help you find your own answers. I would recommend Katie to anyone that wants a truly caring coach.”
